Annual Grand Meeting

Hey, hey, hey! Welcome to all the new students to degree courses, and hello again to the rest. It's a brand new year and we have a brand new president for our club ;) *claps*

In case you missed the Annual Grand Meeting that was held last Wednesday at DK3, here's to catch you up to speed.

If you're wondering why there was no election for club president, and the rest of the selected few, it's because they are chosen by our penasihat, En. Arwin. That is because they have proven themselves to be trustworthy and shown to have the credibility to carry the workload. Our club has won an award to be one of the most active club in UiTM. Thus, to maintain that reputation, it needs to have reliable leaders.

Although, if you are interested in becoming one, you could start from the bottom. I believe our elected head biros are still recruiting their members. Feel free to leave your name and contacts below in the comment (depending on the availability of the positions) or go straight to the respective head biros!

One more thing, as a member of the club, you can contribute in taking the club's name up to the top among the most active clubs in UiTM! If you have any suggestions or an idea for a program to host, don't be shy to come forward to any of the head committees mentioned above and we will discuss in making it a reality. We have 3 programs already in plan so far and that is, Induction, Actuarial Talk and Actuarial Road Tour. Show your support by joining all the following activities!

Welcome to the World of Actuary

Today, the club held a talk at Dewan Al-Ghazali. We've invited En. Jefferey Zain who is an appointed actuary to give us an insight into what it's like and what it takes to be an actuary.

The program was a success. Almost 200 students came.

For those who came to the talk, in the beginning, some of them might have think twice whether or not to continue pursuing the goal to become an actuary. En. Jefferey stressed that the exams, the professional papers, which you have to take to become a fully pledged actuary, are very hard. He, himself, have failed many, many times before he got to where he is now. After been through it all, the hard work and the effort he put in to achieve success in his career, he doesn't really recommend students to further their studies in actuarial science, that is if money is your biggest and only motivation. After all, there are other ways to earn big money. Even so, becoming an actuary have its pros. It is rewarding. When asked whether it was worth the effort and the hard work, he said that it was and he is very happy with it and found it to be satisfying.

And as En. Arwin have mentioned to his students, Microsoft Excel is very, very important. In the actuarial deparment, you would find yourself doing lots of spreadsheet for almost every thing. So, if you plan to excel in becoming an actuary, you must know how to use Excel.

Actuarial Road Tour 6

Last Friday, the club had the annualy-held event, Actuarial Road Tour 6. This time, we went to MRSM Langkawi and MRSM Berseri, Perlis.

Saturday morning, we head to Langkawi, from Kuala Perlis at which we're staying. Since the event only took place until about in the afternoon, we took the opportunity to spend the rest of the day and went sight-seeing or shopping (for some of us) all around Langkawi. We travelled in smaller groups though.

On Sunday, well, I'll let the pictures speak for itselves.

Well done on Nazrul's part. The students seemed to have a good time.

It was time to get the program going on outside.

The students were then divided into smaller groups. They were supposed to only communicate between themselves to find their group members by gestures and no talking at all. These must have belonged to the Orang Utan group.

I'm assuming this is the Fish Group.

The groups then moved separately and find a place to have their activities. Some on the lawn..

While others on the pavement..

or even on the benches..

This group here prefer the greeneries and sat on the field, under a tree.

This group was comfortable enough to have it on the tars.

At the end of the program, a post-mortem was held for a review, as always. A few concerns were voiced out, but then again, no program has ever been that perfect. Hopefully, the next time would be better, and history wouldn't repeat itself. Overall, they did a good job. We even get lots of positive feedbacks from the schools. Apparently, the students were fond of us and enjoyed the program, so well done, facilitators.

talk and more talk

when semester is coming to its end, there's a few talk was being held by the club... the first talk was about insurance management... the publisiti was quite good, thus there were quite a number of students who showed up for the talk... there was two person who came to give out the talk which came from two different companies...

the first talk was given out by En. Mohd Adli from Takaful Ikhlas... he tells us about the company itself so that we are well-informed about that particular company...

while the second talk is given out by En. Abdul Latiff from Hong Leong Tokio Marine... we might not heard about this company that much, thus by this talk, at least we can know more details about this company... and for ur information, most of the CEOs in this company is actuarial science students...

a few weeks afterwards, there was another talk being held and this time around it is about insurance law... the talk was given out by Dr. Mohd Bahrin Othman... he is the deputy dean of law faculty...this talk was being held so that the students are aware of the insurance law...

by doing this kind of activities, students are given the chance to gain some information that might not be available in the normal class... furthermore, it makes the students to have wide perspective about this course...

hari bertemu pelanggan

Pada minggu lepas, satu event telah berlangsung which is Hari Bertemu Pelanggan... this event is to introduce our club to the public so we have to open up our own booth which is located at the foyer of menara SAAS... kepada sesiapa yang mengambil tahu, mesti korg tau club kite took part in this event...

This event is on 17^th and 18^th of march (rabu dan khamis)... so the day before the event is being held, kiteorg kene lah menyiap kan booth tersebut... kiteorg just bole start decorating the booth aftr 5pm on the 16^th tue, tp since most of us ade class tyme 2, it leave us no choice, kiteorg terpaksa start our work aftr class which is at 9pm... dengan perut yang lapar, kiteorg pun buat lah keje2 tue sume... setelah berhempas pulas menyiap kn booth tersebut, akhir nya siap lah juga.. terima kasih juga kepada mr. Presiden kerana bersama-sama buat kerja dengan kiteorg... =p

Mmg tidak dinafikan, pada hari pertama, booth club kite kurang mendapat sambutan, mcm xmeriah sangat lah... mungkin sbb xde org2 kuat club kot... hahaha... tp pada hari kedua, sambuatn sangat lah meriah, ramai student datang ke booth club dan banyak hadiah disediakan sbb ada bnyk kuiz n soalan untuk pengunjung booth...

Walaupun club kite is maths based club, tp pada hari kedua tu, siap ade sesi berlakon lagi, mane lah xmeriah kan... so kepada sesiapa yang tak datang ke booth pada Hari Bertemu Pelanggan nie, mmg lah sangat rugi... so next tyme kalo ade lg event nie, datang lah beramai-ramai utk memeriah kn lagi booth club...

Kepada semua orang yang telah membantu dalam event nie, pihak club mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih... terima kasih kerana telah menyumbang kn tenaga anda semua... lain kali kalau ade event ape2 lagi, jgn lah lupe untuk join sekali ye....

family day

sebelum menulis dengan lebih panjang, saya ingin memohon maaf kerana blog ini jarang di update kerana kekangan masa... minta maaf kepada semua ye... =)


mungkin xsemua yang tahu, (tp sepatut nye semua org kene tahu) pada 6 mac 2010, telah dijalan kan satu event which is family day... this is the first time our club is organizing a family day... sebelum2 nie all we had is actuarial day out a.k.a induction day which is for new students only, tp this sem we make it a little bit different...

this family day is open for anyone, i mean budak actuary je lah kan, n no payment is made... it means it is for free... sape2 je yang nk pegi bole just bg name... tp sambutan agak xmenggalakkan coz bus yang disediakan utk budak2 actuary pegi sgt lah bnyk, tp yg pegi nye xramai, jd sangat lah mendukacita kn...

whatever it is, the family day still rock on... opppsss, lupe lak nk bg tau where is this event being held (sorry, my bad)....this family day is being held at Taman Pertanian Malaysia, Bukit Cerakah, Shah Alam... it is just near by je, n for your information, dah 3 sem kite buat event kat sini...

so lets talk about what happen during the event... pagi2 je bile the new students arrived, senaman pagi pun bermula... tyme sampai 2, hujan still renyai2 tapi itu xmenghalang the flow of the event... n after that, explore race pun bermula... it is just for the new students, in a meanwhile, the old students has their own event which is coloring contest... at first we thought that xramai yg akan join the contest because it is just a coloring contest kan, but it turns out ramai yang join sampai pensel warna pn xckup... haha...

and time petang pula, sukaneka pun berjalan... it is for all students, bole campur2 buat group... it is fun because we got to mix up with all students in all parts...
